About Koreijou.org
What is this place?
Koreijou.org, or Some Website, is a lot of things. Initially, it began as a response to ROMhacking.net shutting down. I wanted to create a place where I could host my personal favorite ROM Hacks, write about them, and generally exist on the internet without using social media like Discord or Twitter. Things have evolved somewhat now that it's clear Romhacking.net isn't actually going anywhere.
Topics of discussion can vary wildly here. Generally, I would like to discuss technology. However, I find myself writing about politics here fairly often now. Things are simply so absurd that I can't help but comment on them.
Why the two names?Koreijou.org is an homage to the final line of Dir En Grey's Phenomenon. It seems like the song is about being obsessed with something to the point of questioning your own sanity. Since it's Dir En Grey, there's no way to truly know. "Some Website" on the other hand, came from the realization that many readers probably can't pronounce "koreijou". You can expect that name to change at some point as well. Maybe I'll settle with Koreijou, maybe I won't. I kind of like the idea of running a site where nobody anywhere truly knows what it's actually called.
[insert page here] doesn't work on mobile!I wouldn't recommend reading this site on mobile. That said, send me an email and I'll see what I can do.
What do you know?I have been ROM hacking for nearly 20 years. I have first hand experience with most NES hardware, including a majority of the Japanese stuff. I've spent almost as much time repairing NES consoles as I have ROM Hacking. If there is a problem with a console, computer, or something related, I can quickly diagnose and repair it.
Will you host my ROM Hack?Yes. It doesn't need to be good, or even playable. The original idea of this site was for me to host what I personally enjoy, but I don't mind hosting other peoples work if they need hosting. I'm not interested if you hack features stupid shit like racism.
Who are you?I think my words are better at defining me than anything else. Even in regular life, I prefer anonymity. I'll leave a shout out to my wife and kids though. I love them and our cats.
