Good and Bad things

First, the bad

The combination of the holiday season, having children around 24/7, and nonsense at work have left me in a state of constant ire. I have no reason to lie about my love for all of those things here. Especially my job. However, the sheer load of all of it simultaneously is taking it's load on my wife and I. Not to mention, medical issues cropping up for multiple family members the week before Christmas.

My wife got sick recently but is doing better. My uncle is also sick, and is currently hospitalized. In fact, he spent Christmas there. My daughter is doing make up work for something I won't specify. I am preparing for a massive project at work that I am certain will go about as smooth as a crumpled coke can.

Give me and my family a break, world. I just want to sit with my kids and watch a movie without thinking about something that sucks.

Now, the good

Despite the pile on, Christmas was pretty good. I spent the morning building lego sets with my daughter. That was the day I could also tell that my wife was getting better, which was the only thing I truly wanted. She gave me a Lego Game Boy.

While I commonly assist my daughter in building lego sets, I haven't built one for myself in several decades. I tried to build it with my daughter the other morning but since it had no minifigs, she had no interest. That kid really loves her minifigs.

Sometime before Christmas, my wife and I finally finished watching the Walking Dead up to season 9. I always considered the end of season 8 to be a very good ending point for the series. Evidently, so did the lead cast member, because he leaves the series five episodes into season 9. We intend to watch what little is left of the series since neither of us have seen it, but we're dragging our feet.

Right now as I type this, my wife is doing her make-up for work and my daughter is playing Slime Rancher. I'm at complete peace despite all of the crap going on. Writing something, anything, probably helps too. That leads me to...

2026 site plans

I'm not looking to change the general vibe of this place much. In fact, I intend to continue doing exactly what I'm doing, but better. For instance, more visually appealing articles. Improving the writing on the articles that already exists, and more. When I rewrite the articles here, I never change the content. I simply make it more readable. I wonder if I should consider leaving the originals available just for the sake of transparency. Though, nothing I've written warrants that.

Don't worry, I'm not going all wordpress on this place. I'd never denigrate this site in such a way. This place will always look like how I think a website should, and never a soulless husk of AI slop nonsense.

Thank you for reading this site, and I hope you have a wonderful 2026.
