Life is cyclical

The Nintendo Entertainment System is one of those machines that I’m just kind of obsessed with. I don’t really know why. Frankly, it’s a subject that has been discussed by everyone to death. What else is there even to say about this thing? I recently got a Twin Famicom, and have been messing around with it a bit. It’s been a while since I last had interest in the famicom and several things have happened since then. There’s a new drive emulator for the Famicom Disk System called the FDSkey which I’ll probably build. Along with that, DupliFDS , which allows you to copy disks using an English interface. Even though I can read Japanese well enough to use DISK HACKER, I don’t particularly enjoy using it. It always felt very sketchy.
Family BASIC was another one that I messed around with. in 2018, it seemed like people weren’t interested in archiving the software that existed for it. Now, in 2025, everyone and their mother is out there archiving stuff. It really warms my heart. I’ll need to remember to download and store everything physically so it doesn’t end up lost again later down the line. I don’t trust Archive.orgs ability to keep itself alive. Maybe I can host them all here too. I know that Family BASIC is garbage as far as BASIC interpreters go. I don’t care though, it’s fun to use. I’ve had it longer than I ever had my Apple IIe, which is weird to think about. In November, the phone (yeah, I write on my phone, what of it?) I wrote my DK Oldies report on died. Samsung Updated without my permission and made it so the phone wouldn't charge. I'm not even going to try to recover it. I don’t think anyone needs me to explain why DK Oldies sucks. I knew that from the beginning, so I didn’t even write that much about them. I wanted to frame it as some massive expose about how they’re scammers, only for it to devolve into unrelated rants about the various games I see on the site. Basically, the idea was to fuck with anyone who worked there. I wrote it imagining a legal team combing over the absurd ranting looking for anything libelous. Which of course, wouldn’t be there. It was pages, and pages long, and was presented to look at a casual glance like something more than it actually was. I’m not rewriting it because I don’t think I can properly recreate it. I’m not planning on uploading any ROM Hacks this time, but you’re free to send me any you create. I’ll host them here. I’m not that concerned about content. I won’t host anything Hateful, illegal, or Trump related. Those are the only rules. The first one and the last one could probably just be combined into one rule, but whatever.
